Lord of The Cash(Flow)

A 6-month personal finance makeover for self-employed business owners

Because why would you be like Gollum with your money...when you could be Gandalf instead?

Let’s not be coy here:

Money is kind of a big deal.

Like, the biggest deal — especially if you’re a self-employed entrepreneur.

Nearly the whole damn country, self-employed or not, is struggling to get their finances in order.

(As in, more than two thirds of Americans would struggle to find $1000 for an emergency… and less than half of us have a rainy-day fund. This money stuff is hard for everyone, yo.)

But getting your money in order as a business owner is like leveling up into the boss mode version of budgeting.

(That’s code for: it’s really friggin’ hard.)

It’s no wonder that so many business owners feel like Gollum when it comes to their personal finances...

Month in month out, they watch their precious money come and go — without rhyme or reason. Without a sense of control. And it feels like they can never get ahead.

Not exactly what you expected when you started your business, huh?

If you’re like most business owners, part or all of the reason you made the jump into self-employment was so you could enjoy more flexibility and financial freedom...

Yet the reality of self-employment is often the opposite.

(In fact, going into biz for yourself tends to magnify your money probs, instead of fixing them. Kinda like marriage, but without the kinky stuff.)

Today, here’s what you’re up against:

→ Budgeting was hard enough when you had a steady salary — but trying to get stability when you don’t have a reliable income each month? Ugh. Let’s not talk about it. (Just kidding, we’re totally gonna talk about it.)

→ Money seems to sneak in and out of your bank account more stealthily than a 2018-model Toyota Prius. Where does it go!? And why do you always feel like you’re one missed invoice away from disaster?

→ All in all, planning for your financial future is next-level-hard:

You want to save up for that vacation (somewhere warm and sandy, with cocktails that have teensy umbrellas), a new car, even a house deposit… but your goals feel intimidating and nearly impossible.

Which means you’ve got lots of not-so-fun stuff swirling around your head each day (and night) like…

Doing mathematical gymnastics as you try to figure out what you can and can’t afford (then screwing it up and putting yourself in the red)...

Not having enough savings to truly make you feel safe and secure (which kinda makes you miss the days of working for someone else, because at least you could sleep easy about money)...

And, ultimately, feeling sh*tty because your spending doesn’t align with your values — with the life you want to create for yourself and your family, with how you want to contribute to your community, and with supporting the causes you care about.

In short? You’re dealing with a whoooole lotta fear, shame and blame. No fun.

So how do most savvy business owners try to fix this problem?

→ You try to hustle up more money to deal with rising expenses and cash emergencies (a vicious cycle if there ever was one)...

→ You search for answers in books, articles, and podcasts (including infuriatingly vague advice like “live below your means” and “spend less than you earn”)...

→ You create a restrictive budget that’s the financial equivalent of living off kale chips and air. Like all crash diets, it doesn’t last.

… But you’re still feeling more #craycray than you’d like around your money.

(Yes, just said #craycray. I don’t know how I feel about it either, but it’s too late to turn back now.)

Doing the financial tango as an entrepreneur is enough to make you want to pack it in on some days…

But I also know that you’re here for a reason.

Taking care of your money IS something that can you master.

Especially when you have these two important things in place:

Important thing #1:

A flexible personal finance system that is simple, easy to maintain, and most importantly… customized to work for you.

Important thing #2:

The support that you need to implement and integrate this system into your life (no more white knucklin’ required).

Because if life has taught me anything… it’s that we can do hard things.

Especially when you’ve got the systems and supports in place to make damn sure you’ll succeed.

So, this whole personal budgeting and “financial wellbeing” thing?

I’m not going to let it get the better of you anymore.

Let’s level up and beat this thing.

"Dude. The stress you're feeling around your money is a total waste of energy. Look this goblin in the eye and get in touch with Lynne. She's not going to judge you, she just wants to help women get their shit straight, so they can save up and protect themselves. She's seen it all. Lynne was calming, nonjudgemental, and generous with her time. She has a lot of patience and compassion for those who don't really know what they're doing in the money world. It was a demystifying experience. I'm super happy with my decision to work together."

- Caroline M.

Have we met before?

I’m Lynne, and together, we’re going to get your money working for you (instead of working yourself into the ground and wondering where all the money went each month).

More specifically, I’m one of those weirdos who loves both numbers and people — which means I’m excellent at bridging the gap between the decimals in your bank account and those big-hearted goals you’ve got for your future (they’re totally possible, by the way).

I got my MBA and accounting street cred from Bentley University (but not before my BA in Sociology — AKA why we do the things we do). For the last several years — no prizes if you guess my age —  I’ve been helping self-employed badasses learn to “speak money” (which for many of us, might as well be Klingon) and build better financial habits that leave plenty of room for enjoying the life you’ve got now.

Because, when you do it right…

Managing your money isn’t another item on your “I’ll get around to it someday” list or something you avoid like a visit to the dentist…

Taking back control of your money is the ultimate act of self-care.

When your money isn’t reigned in, it bleeds into every area of your life. Love, family, relationships, health, you name it — if money is a problem, the burn goes much deeper than your bank account.

But when you learn to look after your finances? You learn to look after yourself.

Give yourself the gift of financial competence, and what you get back is financial confidence and a sense of being able to finally relax around money.

That’s priceless, life-changing, revo-freakin’-lutionary stuff. (Even if you’re not a numbers nerd like me.)

So why is Lord of the Cash(Flow) a 6-month package... and how does it work?

Why not 2 days, 2 weeks, or 2 months instead?

I’ve found that most people can learn how to budget, and they can learn how to create a spending plan…

But then they rush into following someone else’s “money formula” and then wonder why it doesn’t work for them (or why they can’t seem to make it stick).

Well, two reasons: their formula isn’t your formula, and…

Where people really get stuck is in creating financial habits that maintain their hard work so that they see results.

It takes time for us to get to the bottom of what’s really going on with your money, how you got there, and how we’re going to help you move forward in a way that makes sense for you.

(But don’t worry — I’m not your therapist or life coach. We’re going to get a lot of sh*t done together, I promise).

So, from one business owner to another, you know it’s all about the long game, baby. But that doesn’t mean you’re not going to see immediate results from our work together.

In fact, you’ll start feeling more relieved, more in control and less strung-out in our very first week.

"Grounded and practical, with the warmest heart"

Lynne is at once grounded in practical, technical advice on budgeting, and has the warmest heart, which is the more important piece for those of us who feel a lot of shame or resignation about the state of our financial lives.

-Katie G

So here’s what our next 6 months together are going to look like:

Phase 1: it starts with a “give it to me straight” kick-off session.

This is our warts-n-all, judgement-free, look-under-the-hood moment. We’ll get it all out on the table together. You’ll give me all the info I need to look over your finances in detail, and on our call, you’ll get a chance to air out every anxiety, frustration, and problem you’ve got with money.

I’ll ask a lot of questions. You’ll answer. You’ll exhale. And together, we’ll start to create a plan for pulling you out of the muck and confusion.

Phase 2: then, in the first 90 days, we create your financial foundations.

(We’ll meet twice a month during this phase.)

Like a custom-built home, your new foundation will be uniquely yours. We’ll work out your financial goals and how we’ll start chipping away at them together, piece by piece. If certain parts of your finances are on fire, I’ll whip out my fire hose (hey now) and help you douse the flames.

We’ll also get you set up with the knowledge, tools and simple systems that will help you manage your money with more ease and less headaches, working out the kinks together along the way.

Phase 3: and, in the next 90 days, we shore up those foundations with new habits that will serve you for life.

(We’ll meet once a month during this phase.)

This stage of our work together is like pouring cement around the foundations we’ve built. It’s all about turning your new money knowledge into long-term, sustainable action, and integrating your financial plans into your real life — because stuff happens and we’re not gonna let it derail you.

Depending on your needs, we’ll also dig deeper into specific issues, like: how do I get my significant other to agree to what we’ve worked on together? What if I’ve already implemented everything, and need help taking it to the next level? (Also: my cat has expensive taste in food, plz halp?)

If the first 90 days of our work together is about putting out the fires and laying the framework, then the next 90 days is about creating real, lasting change.

(This is the part where I reference you becoming a majestic, fiscally-responsible butterfly.)

Fun fact: all of our meetings are held virtually via Zoom — so no matter where you are in the world, if you’re ready to get your personal finances sorted, I can help you make it happen.

(Except maybe Antarctica. Or if you’re actually a penguin.)

Ready to do this thing? Here are your next steps:

Step 1: Click the button below to schedule an intro call with me.

Step 2: After scheduling, you’ll receive a link to a quick questionnaire so you can spill the deets on what’s going on for you right now (and where you’d like help).

Step 3: On our intro call, we’ll decide if we’re a good fit — and we’ll arrange a date for our kick-off call, along with your contract and down payment.

Step 4: You sleep like a slightly boozed-up baby, knowing that you’ve taken the first step toward your financial liberation. To victory!

I'm SO glad we connected! I truly have a relationship with money I didn't even know was possible. Thank you. Next month, we're going to celebrate our anniversary by staying overnight, by ourselves! at a local resort. Before working with you, I would have pulled out the credit card, *hoped* I had enough money to cover it, did it anyway, and then spent SO much energy *wondering* if I should have done it, before, during and after this "nice" thing I planned for us. Now, we're just going -- it's in the budget! And, the *experience* that brings me, and my whole family, is incredibly moving: I get to just be with my family and have fun, instead of being with my wondering about money.
